Key Largo, Tavernier & Islamorada
In-Home ABA Therapy in Key Largo & the Upper Keys
Families in the Upper Keys are often told the nearest help is on the mainland. We do it the other way around: our therapists drive the Overseas Highway to you, so your child learns in the house, classroom, or dock-side neighborhood where daily life actually happens, in English or in Spanish.
Upper Keys communities we visit
Sessions cover the stretch of US-1 from the top of Key Largo down through Tavernier and the Islamorada keys, including homes on the bay side and the ocean side.

How travel and scheduling work up here
One road connects everything in the Upper Keys, so we plan visits by mile marker rather than by neighborhood. Grouping nearby families on the same day keeps drive time off your child's clock, and it is why we ask for your mile marker on the first call.
Weather and bridge traffic are part of life here. If a storm or a closure changes the plan, we call you before the session, not after, and reschedule rather than cut the visit short.
School and community sessions in the Upper Keys
When a school agrees to coordinate, a therapist can work alongside your child during the school day so a skill practiced at home also holds up in the classroom. Community sessions can happen wherever your family already spends time: the grocery store, a park, or a relative's house.
Inside a home visit on the bay side or the ocean side
A typical home visit in Key Largo starts with a few minutes of catching up with whoever is there that day, a parent, a grandparent, sometimes an older sibling, before the therapist settles into whatever routine is already happening. If your child is mid-breakfast, the session might begin at the table. If it is after a day at the pool or the canal, it might begin outside on the dock or in the yard. We do not ask families to pause their life and present a tidy version of it; we work with the version that is already there.
Because many Key Largo properties sit on canals or have limited cell signal in spots, we confirm the exact entrance and a backup contact number before the first visit. It sounds small, but it saves real minutes on a road where there is no shortcut if a therapist goes to the wrong gate.
School sessions with Monroe County School District families
Children in Key Largo, Tavernier, and Islamorada who are zoned to Monroe County School District schools sometimes need support that does not stop when the bell rings. When the school agrees to coordinate, our therapist can observe the classroom routine first, then work alongside your child during specific parts of the day, lunch, transitions, or a particular subject, so the strategies used at home carry over rather than starting from scratch in September.
We also meet with parents separately from the school visits to go over what we saw and agree on the next small goal, so you are never hearing about your child's day secondhand.
Planning around one road and two tide schedules
US-1 is the only way in or out of the Upper Keys, which means a fender bender near mile marker 100 can affect a family near mile marker 90 just as much as one closer to the scene. We build a buffer into every Key Largo route and keep an eye on traffic advisories the morning of visits, because a ten minute delay here is rarely just ten minutes.
Boat traffic and fishing schedules also shape when families are actually home, especially in households where a parent works on the water. We would rather ask what your week looks like than assume a standard nine-to-five, and we adjust the visit day if your schedule shifts with the season.

We bill Florida Medicaid plans including Humana and Simply. If you do not see your plan, call us and we will check your benefits with you. Our Medicaid & ABA guide explains how coverage works. See all accepted plans on our insurance page, or read about our work across Monroe County / Florida Keys.
Questions Upper Keys parents ask us
Do your therapists really drive to Key Largo and Islamorada?
Yes. We are a mobile practice, so the session comes to your home, your child's school when the school coordinates it, or a community setting. You do not need to drive to Key West or to the mainland for ABA.
Does Florida Medicaid cover in-home ABA in the Upper Keys?
Florida Medicaid covers ABA therapy for children under 21 when it is medically necessary, and in-home sessions are part of that. Coverage goes through an evaluation and a prior authorization. Our Florida Medicaid and ABA guide walks through each step.
Can sessions be in Spanish in Tavernier or Islamorada?
Yes. Our clinicians work in English and in Spanish, and parent training happens in the language your family speaks at home.
Why do you ask for our mile marker?
Because it is the fastest way to know where you are on US-1. It helps us group visits so drive time does not eat into your child's session.
What do I need to have ready before I call?
Nothing has to be finished. If your child already has an autism diagnosis, have it handy. If not, call 786-238-5931 and we will tell you what the next step is.
Do you serve families on North Key Largo near Ocean Reef?
We cover Key Largo including North Key Largo. Call 786-238-5931 and let us know your mile marker so we can tell you exactly how a visit there would be scheduled.
What happens if a storm closes US-1 on our scheduled day?
We call you before the session rather than leaving you waiting, and we reschedule for the next available day instead of trying to rush a shortened visit in.
Will my child work with the same therapist every time in Key Largo?
We try to keep the same therapist on the same days for every Upper Keys family, since familiarity matters, and we tell you ahead of time if a change is ever needed.
